娇色导航 Campout

Friday-Sunday, August 21-23
General Butler State Park

I hope you are enjoying summer break.  My name is Holley O'Bryan (娇色导航 mom to 3rd and 9th graders) and I am excited to organize the 娇色导航 Campout this year.
We will be camping at General Butler State Park in Carrollton, Kentucky. Dates: Friday, August 21 - Sunday, August 23. Deadline to register is August 10.

About General Butler:
The Lodge has a dining room, large swimming pool with tables/umbrellas/chairs and lounge chairs, and a small store with crafts and snacks. The Lodge is about a 5 minute drive from the campground.  (We are also not far from restaurants/Walmart in Carrollton if needed.) The Lodge pool is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The front desk has board games you may check out. There are also tennis courts.

Campground amenities include a lake for fishing (KY License required)/canoeing/kayaking, playgrounds, bike riding in the campground, mountain biking on trails, hiking trails in the woods and around the lake, pedal boat rentals that seat 4 (cost TBD), mini golf (Costs: 13+ = $5 / 6-12 = $3 / & free for 5 and under.), and I believe there is a basketball court.

Another activity for history lovers is touring the Butler-Turpin Home/Museum which is at the rear entrance of the park. It's built in Greek revival style and is a three-bay, two-story structure with views of the KY river valley. The home displays the Butler family's military history.

Please know, this campout is casual and very much a 鈥渃hoose your own adventure鈥 weekend. There will be a few activities (nature scavenger hunt for the kids, possibly a wiffle ball game, etc.) but there is no pressure and participation is totally voluntary.

Details:

  • Our contact at the campground is Rita Davis. Her email address is rita.davis@ky.gov.

  • To reserve your campsite, please email Rita and include the following info:

    1. Tell her you are reserving a campsite for the 娇色导航 Campout.

    2. Your type of camping - tent, bringing your camper/RV, or cabin. *The cabins are not in the same location as the tent/RV campers, but are not far.

    3.  The number of campers in your party. *Dogs are welcome, but do not need to RSVP.  (Leashes/other non-escapable barriers are required).

  • Rita will get in touch with you for payment. We all pay for our campsite individually.

  • Once you have confirmed with Rita and paid for your campsite, please email me, holley.obryan@gmail.com, to let me know you are joining the fun, your campsite #, and how many campers are in your party.

  • The WPA will provide pizza for dinner Saturday evening. There will also be a movie night on Saturday in an empty campsite near our group. We plan to watch Night at the Museum (PG; 1hr 48min) at dark.

I do not have the campsite rates yet but Rita will send that info shortly and I will provide it to you. If you have any questions, feel free to email me (holley.obryan@gmail.com). The list of activities will be circulated closer to the campout. There are usually some campground events that Rita plans so I'll try to get that info from her prior to our trip. I'll also provide our common campsite # for pizza and movie closer to the campout.

Here a link to General Butler if you'd like to explore - .

Kind regards,

Holley O'Bryan

Lower School Carpool

DOGGY DERBY DAY

Wednesday, April 29

The Derby wouldn't be complete without racehorses, and 娇色导航 wouldn't be complete without all the furry friends that our families share with us during the morning carpool. We love them so much that we decided to dedicate Wednesday, April 29th as 娇色导航's 4th Annual Doggy Derby Day!

Please bring your fur babies through the Lower School morning carpool and feel free to dress them up in Derby style (if they're willing). We'll snap their photos and share them on social media!
