Gender, sexuality and young people: After No Outsiders

This interdisciplinary conference aims to bring together early career researchers whose work explores issues around gender, sexuality, and young people. Being in collaboration with the British Educational Research Association’s ‘Sexualities’ special interest group, we are particularly interested in work examining the intersections between gender, sexuality, (in)equality and education.

Five years on from the end of the pioneering 2006-9 No Outsiders project – which challenged homophobia in primary schools through action research and critical pedagogy – this event seeks, in part, to maintain a crucial dialogue around the state of gender and sexualities equality in the contemporary educational context.

The conference is intended to be a friendly forum in which Early Career Researchers can feel supported to present their initial findings and discuss their project design or ethical issues. It additionally aims to support the writing of abstracts for individual papers and to identify themes for symposia at next year’s ��ɫ�� annual conference which will be held in Belfast.
