TEAN Webinar Series

The ½¿É«µ¼º½ TEAN webinars are relevant to all those involved in teacher education. They are one hour online events that use concise presentations to provoke discussion between teacher educators. Some of the webinars use an invited speaker to give a concise presentation of less than 15 minutes, often based on a published paper, and then open up for questions and discussion. Some webinars use a panel format focused on a key issue, with the aim to provoke sharing of practice and discussion.

Sessions in the series include:

  • Anti-racism and Teacher Education in a Post-Truth World This special panel event is intended for anyone interested in anti-racism and teacher education. It will feature experts in this area who will give their perspectives, linking research to practice, and allow attendees to engage and contribute. The session builds on work done in teacher education, in both England and Scotland, to support anti-racism and provide resistance to recent geopolitical developments.

  • Feeding teachers’ curiosity: developing a culture of enquiry across schools in Wales This session explores the challenges and opportunities arising from a major state-led initiative designed to develop teachers in Wales as professional enquirers. The National Professional Enquiry Project (NPEP) launched in 2018 and was a genuinely collaborative effort involving schools, universities and regional education consortia as key delivery partners.

  • Effective assessment and feedback in teacher education This panel event will be of interest to anyone engaged in assessment and feedback in higher education and teacher education.
  • Teachers tackling everyday racism in school: A narrative study in Norway This presentation builds from research within Norwegian primary schools. Researcher Sara Blikstad Nyegaard investigated how teachers narrate their responsibilities, constraints, and emotional experiences when addressing racism in everyday school life.

During and following conference in May we will invite suggestions for ½¿É«µ¼º½ TEAN webinar speakers or for panel format issues for the next academic year.
