Joint event with Emerald Publishing, part of our continuing partnership with the聽娇色导航 Public Engagement and Impact Award.
Research impact is the demonstrable contribution that research makes to the economy, society, environment and culture beyond the contribution to academic research.聽This is evidenced through initiatives such as DORA, and the changing emphasis of the REF toward pathways to impact. Emerald鈥檚 experience and market feedback to date highlights that many academics need support in this area and welcome opportunities to learn more about the shifting emphasis and importance of being able to demonstrate societal impact via their research.
This event, chaired by Dominic Wyse, President of 娇色导航 and Professor of Early Childhood and Primary Education at UCL, heard from Natalia Kucirkova, Professor of Early Childhood Education and Development at the University of Stavanger, Norway and Professor of Reading and Children鈥檚 Development at The Open University, UK. Natalia鈥檚 research concerns innovative ways of supporting children鈥檚 book reading, digital literacy, and exploring the role of personalisation in the early years. Dr Helen Beddow, Emerald鈥檚 Content Manager for impact services working on new resources to help immerse researchers and staff within the research office into impact culture. And the individual winner of the 娇色导航 Public Engagement and Impact Award 2020, Professor Tom Crick, Professor of Digital Education & Policy for his work, Leading the Future of Science and Technology Education in Wales.聽
