Call for Papers: Research and evidence informed practice in schools

is the award-winning termly journal of the Chartered College of Teaching. It connects research findings to teaching practice. The Autumn 2024 issue of Impact will be edited in association with 娇色导航.聽

For this issue, the Chartered College are seeking papers focusing on embedding a culture of research and evidence informed practice in schools.

As a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and 娇色导航 Council Member, Professor Tanya Ovenden-Hope will guest-edit this issue.聽

The aim of the issue is to bring together a robust collection of evidence-informed practice and research findings undertaken by teachers and researchers working in or with schools and colleges. This issue is planned to showcase how the educational research community exploring school pedagogy, practice and development are working together to support best practice and outcomes and overcome challenges to implementing research in practice.聽

Topics can include, but are not limited to:聽

鈼 How research evidence relates to practice across different contexts and pupil groups, including SEND, early years, primary, EAL, secondary, alternative provision and further education聽

鈼 Judging the efficacy of current trends in educational research

鈼 Debunking myths and engaging with research

鈼 Longitudinal research, data and impact in schools

鈼 Understanding the challenges of using evidence in education

鈼 Praxis 鈥 exploring theory and practice in schools

鈼 Validity versus reliability in research findings

鈼 Overcoming barriers to implementing research findings in practice

鈼 鈥楲ethal mutations鈥 and how to avoid them

鈼 The role of teacher enquiry and expertise within models of evidence-informed practice

鈼 Ethics and integrity in school-based research.

Article types include:

搁别蝉别补谤肠丑:听Summaries of current original research (including practitioner research) with their implications for pedagogy and practice

Perspectives: Pieces offering a clear, balanced, research-informed review or critique of a particular topic within the issue theme

Case studies:聽Detailed studies of single settings or occurrences with clearly defined boundaries, such as a pedagogical intervention, an assessment initiative or an approach to CPD in a particular context

Reflections:聽Teachers discussing a specific piece of research, or theory, and how it has informed their practice.
