Belinda John-Baptiste, Dr

Research Fellow at University College London, Institute of Education

Belinda is a Research Fellow at UCL’s Institute of Education, working on a national study exploring how the British Empire and its legacies are taught in English secondary schools. She is also an experienced educator with over twenty years’ teaching experience, beginning in English language education before moving into higher education roles in education, sociology and criminology. Her teaching and research sit at the intersection of race, inequality and education, with particular interest in the experiences of racially minoritised learners, institutional discourses of racism and antiracism, and racialised deviance in schooling. Her work is grounded in Critical Race Theory and intersectional analysis. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
