Geeta Gambhir, Ms

Researcher at National Foundation for Educational Research

Geeta is a Senior Researcher at the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) in the UK. She is an experienced qualitative researcher and co-leads NFER’s Qualitative Methods professional group.
She is Technical Lead on qualitative studies for international clients including Right to Play and Promoting Education in African Schools. Her key technical skills include designing research questions; evaluation and coding frameworks; research tools, for example, semi-structured interviews; and qualitative data analysis for accessible report writing with actionable insights. She leads on coordination of data collection with NFER’s partners in Uganda and Rwanda and quality assurance of data; and supports on enumerator training on administering research instruments
Recently, Geeta presented on adapting a classroom observation tool in a low-resource setting at the 2025 Comparative and International Education Society Conference and on learning through play and technology at the 2024 East African Community Education Conference.
Geeta has also worked on assessment-related projects, including as reading test and item developer on a project for Effective Intervention in India and as UK policy analysis lead on two PISA additional analyses reports for the UK Department for Education.
She is a UK qualified teacher with 12 years’ experience in English schools: as a former Head of Psychology in two secondary schools, and an Inclusive Education Coordinator in a primary school. Geeta has an MA in Education and International Development from UCL and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Surrey.
