Stephanie Flower, Dr

Senior Lecturer in Education (mathematics) at Oxford Brookes University

Steph works as a Senior Lecturer at Oxford Brookes University, leading on primary mathematics across the university's Initial Teacher Training programme. While working as a classroom teacher, she trained as a Mathematics Specialist Teacher (MaST), completed her MA in Mathematics Education (2018), trained as an NCETM Primary Mastery Specialist and PD Accredited Lead, and worked as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) for mathematics in Oxfordshire. After leaving the classroom in 2021, Steph worked on an EEF-funded RCT at the University of Oxford, focusing on early mathematics.

In 2023, Steph won the SIG award for Educational Effectiveness and Improvement at the ½¿É«µ¼º½ national conference, presenting the intial findings from her PhD studies (completed March 2025). Steph's research interests include prescribed/ mandated curricula and pedagogies and their implications for schools, teachers and pupils.
