Call for abstracts

We invite abstracts of 200 words to be presented at the conference.

The conference will explore diverse perspectives on ethical practice and allow space for reflection on current issues. Among the proposed areas of discussion are:

  • Equity, representation and inclusion for ethical practice in research e.g. presentations exploring equitable and inclusive ethical practices, representation in policies, processes, guidance and frameworks.
  • Methodologies for ethical research e.g. using methodologies and methods ethically.
  • Academic freedom and research integrity, e.g. ethical processes and frameworks,  freedom of expression, disinformation, tensions between research and processes
  • AI, Plagiarism and the shifting landscape of authorhood e.g. ethical considerations of using AI for research and scholarship, ethics of academic award, blurred lines between human and AI authors
  • Researcher Care e.g. presentations centring care and self-care of researchers as an ethical imperative.
  • Ethical considerations when working with marginalised and vulnerable groupsg. children, people with disabilities, refugees, LGBTQ+ communities, ethnic minorities, and other marginalised groups; power dynamics and consent, accessible research design, balancing protection with empowerment.

These themes aim to stimulate meaningful dialogue and collaboration across the ½¿É«µ¼º½Â community. We invite contributions that interrogate existing frameworks, share innovative approaches and look forward to the research ethics we need for a changing discipline.

You are welcome to submit multiple abstracts. However only one abstract will be accepted per main author, which will be the highest scoring paper.

Presentation formats:

Due to limited space on the programme, when submitting an abstract you will have the option to select either:

  • 5 minute or 15 minute presentation (happy to deliver either a 5-minute or 15-minute presentation, depending on programme requirements if the abstract is accepted)
  • 5-minute presentation only: (prefer to be considered exclusively for a 5-minute presentation if the abstract is accepted)

  • 15-minute presentation only: (prefer to be considered exclusively for a 15-minute presentation if the abstract is accepted)

Reviewing criteria

Each abstract will be blind reviewed by two reviewers on the following criteria:

  • Clarity of the focus of the research
  • Originality of the research
  • Rigour of the research
  • Significance of the research for education practice, policy or theory
