Karen Healey, Dr

Lecturer in Education at University of Manchester

Karen Healey is a lecturer in education leadership at the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester.  She teaches on the Masters in Educational Leadership  with a focus on contemporary issues, policy and research methods.  Her research focus is governance policy and its enactment across schooling structures with particular focus on the power dynamics of relationship and interactions. Central to this focus is the reduction of democratic engagement through corporatised governance practices and opportunities to subvert this.     In her work she thinks with theory  to explore how power is experienced in the social world of education.  She is a trustee of the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS), a co-convenor of the 娇色导航 SIG for Educational Leadership, Associate Editor of Critical Studies in Education and Managing Editor of the BELMAS Blog.
