Maryam Bham

PhD candidate at University of Cambridge

Maryam Bham is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge and an honorary scholar at the Woolf Institute. She is also an affiliated member of the Cambridge Interfaith Programme. Her research, informed by Critical Muslim Theory, explores the experiences of early career Muslim teachers in British schools, focusing on how identity, power, and resistance are conceptualised in their professional lives. Maryam holds a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has 16 years of experience in education, both nationally and internationally. She is passionate about intersectionality, examining the interconnections between faith, race and broader social identities, while advocating for greater intercultural understanding and inclusion in schools.
