Dr Matthew Green is a Lecturer in Children, Young People and Education at York St John University. His research focuses on children and young people's gender embodiment in secondary school spaces, with particular attention to changing rooms and toilets. He also explores young people's social constructions of bullying and banter in Physical Education and school sport settings. Working within a figurational sociological framework, his work is especially concerned with the civilised body and emotional expression and regulation demanded in contemporary schooling.
