Mel Green, Mrs

Lecturer in Education Studies at The Open University

Mel Green is a Lecturer in Education Studies and EdD doctoral researcher at the Open University (OU). Her EdD research explores the complexity of the identity-work of online distance educators and the resulting impact on their online teaching practices. In October 2023, Mel published a co-authored article, with Dr Claire Malcom from the Open University, titled ‘Degrees of Change: The promise of anti-racist assessment’ in a special edition of Frontiers in Sociology: Dismantling racial inequalities in higher education. Her book, ‘Mothering at the Margins: Black Mothers Raising Autistic Children in the UK’, again co-authored with Dr Malcolm, combines collective autoethnography and participant research to detail the experiences of Black women raising autistic children in the UK.
