Michael Jones is a university lecturer in academic writing and communications at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan with more than six years of experience teaching rhetoric and composition and English for Academic Purposes in Iraq and Kazakhstan. His research interests intersect education with technology and social justice with an interest in the pedagogical and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence in higher education. Michael is currently beginning his PhD in Education and Social Justice at Lancaster University where his research will focus on the role of universities in post-conflict peacebuilding, global citizenship education and identity formation in the Global South. In addition to teaching and research, Michael is developing workshops on AI literacy, academic integrity, and the future of writing centres and classroom writing assessment.
