Mikko A. Niemelä is a doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki, funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation. He is preparing a dissertation on knowledge-based curriculum integration. His main interests include theoretical approaches to education, curriculum studies and didactics. Previously he worked as a subject teacher of philosophy, psychology, history, social studies and religious education in secondary schools.
