Navan N. Govender聽(SFHEA) (he/they) is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Language and Literacy Studies at the Strathclyde Institute of Education (Glasgow, United Kingdom).
I am a scholar-activist whose interdisciplinary research and teaching explores the relationship between language, meaning-making, power, identity, and ideology in (higher) education. Through critical, queer, and decolonial paradigms, my work seeks to bridge theory, research, and practice in contextually-relevant ways through critical literacies and that further social justice. I am currently a senior lecturer in applied language & literacy studies at the University of Strathclyde, the President-elect of the UK Literacy Association (UKLA), and co-editor of The聽Reading Teacher聽journal. I have a strong, varied publication record, a strong reputation for working with communities, high impact knowledge exchange and public engagement, and also work on funded projects.聽
