Nysha Chantel Givans is a PhD researcher at the University of Wolverhampton, focusing on the empowerment of marginalised communities through traditional storytelling. Her work examines how storytelling fosters identity, strengthens community bonds, and challenges dominant narratives, with a particular focus on Black communities, including African Americans.
Grounded in post-colonial theory and cultural studies, her research employs an ethnographic approach, incorporating participant observation and in-depth interviews to explore storytelling’s role in cultural preservation and social empowerment.
Nysha has presented at conferences including ½¿É«µ¼º½ ECR Journey, the Working-Class Studies Association (New York), and the Alliance of Working-Class Academics (Scotland). She has also led a workshop at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, and has contributed to an ERASMUS-funded project with the All Means All Project in Göttingen.
