Richard Evea, Mr

Retired Headteacher

Richard Evea was a headteacher for 20 years and worked in three different schools. One school at Angmering, West Sussex, celebrated a special support facility, which allowed the integration of 60 students with severe special educational needs. The philosophy was that every student should have full access to all experiences unless there was a more important opportunity available.
Following his headship Richard spent a year working for his local authority researching year 7 integrated curricula in East and West Sussex. He then spent a year as senior leader for the South East at the National College of School Leadership.
More recently he served as governor at a secondary school in Brighton and also helped establish and became chair of trustees for a youth charity called Beyond the School Gates (BSG) that supported young people facing or experiencing permanent exclusion from secondary school. His insights and experiences inform his writing and conference presentations.
