Ruksana Beigi, Mrs

Senior Lecturer at University of East London

Ruksana Beigi is a senior lecturer in Early Childhood Studies at the University of East London, where she teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the Department of Education. Her teaching and research are driven by a deep commitment to inclusive, creative and socially responsive pedagogies. Her PhD research explores arts-based pedagogies in the professional development of early years practitioners, focusing on how creative practices enhance confidence, critical reflection and professional identity.
In higher education, she uses arts-informed and experiential methods to foster dialogue, empathy and transformation – supporting students to connect theory with lived experience. Her wider research includes the role of the arts in maternal health, particularly during the perinatal period, advocating for creative methods to amplify marginalised voices and improve care experiences.
Across all her work, she champions arts-based and creative methodologies as tools for fostering inclusion, voice and belonging, viewing creativity as central – not peripheral – to education and social justice.
