Sherran Clarence, Doctor

Senior lecturer in doctoral education and development at Nottingham Trent University

Dr Sherran Clarence is a senior lecturer in the Directorate of Research Culture and Environment at Nottingham Trent University, where she specialises in doctoral researcher and research supervisor education, training and development. She is also a senior research associate in the Centre for Higher Education, Research, Teaching and Learning (CHERTL) at Rhodes University in South Africa, and a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research in higher education teaching and learning focuses on doctoral education, specifically on issues of inclusion, representation, access and success. She has published widely on issues relating to equity, social justice, and success in higher education. Her blog, How to write a PhD in a hundred steps (or more), which chronicles her journey through her doctorate and into an academic career, is read in more than 125 countries.
