Dr Silhouette Bushay is a Senior Lecturer, and the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Education Top Up and BA (Hons) Education Top Up Online courses at the University of East London, England. She is the Module Leader for the Culture and Diversity module on the MA Education course which takes a critical and intersectional approach to addressing school experiences and educational outcomes of minoritised children and young people. She is also Module Leader for the Independent Research Project module by distance learning for the undergraduate Early Childhood and Education Cluster.
Silhouette’s research interests include Black Girlhood Studies, especially Black British Girlhood Studies/Black European Girlhood Studies, lived experiences of Black British communities, Black British music and culture, and various forms of pedagogies.
Dr Bushay has been awarded multiple Equality, Diversity and Inclusion awards in response to her teaching, and EDI work within her school and across the institution.
