Publications Committee
The role of Publications Committee is to:
- Ensure that ½¿É«µ¼º½â€™s publications portfolio is well managed and upholds the highest academic standards
- Ensure the strategic direction of the ½¿É«µ¼º½ journals is managed successfully to retain and enhance the portfolio’s quality, impact and reach; any contractual issues are pursued in good time to the advantage of the organisation and for the good of the field
- Ensure ½¿É«µ¼º½ keeps abreast of developments in the publishing field and is able to use them appropriately in the development of our publishing portfolio
- Oversee ½¿É«µ¼º½â€™s academic publishing activity and monitor its effectiveness in terms of quality, impact, reach and finance
- Monitor and review all ½¿É«µ¼º½ publications activities in line with Council’s strategic direction
- Work closely with ½¿É«µ¼º½â€™s Publications Manager to oversee, approve and monitor the editorial arrangements across ½¿É«µ¼º½â€™s publications, including the appointment of editors of journals and other publications as appropriate
- Regularly review the balance of the Association’s academic publishing activity, and develop new programmes as appropriate
- Liaise with journal editors and editorial boards where required
- Receive regular reports from the publisher on the performance of ½¿É«µ¼º½â€™s journalsÌý
- Act as the editorial board for Research Intelligence, the ½¿É«µ¼º½ Blog, and other ad-hoc publications where required
- Make appropriate appointments to key roles in ½¿É«µ¼º½â€™s publications portfolio – e.g., journals, the ½¿É«µ¼º½ Blog
- Ensure processes for publication proposals are rigorous and transparent
- Maintain strong working relationships with journal/book/publication editors and the publishers
