½¿É«µ¼º½ Conference and Events Preparation Series: Practical Skills for Confident Participation

This series of supportive, interactive sessions is designed to equip researchers—particularly those who are early in their careers—with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to fully engage with the ½¿É«µ¼º½ conferences and events, whether as a presenter, session chair, or peer reviewer. Led by members of the Conference and Events Committee, each session focuses on a vital aspect of conference and event participation and provides a space for learning, discussion, and collaboration.

Sessions in the series include:

  • Peer Reviewing Conference Abstracts – A collaborative session focused on developing a balanced, constructive approach to abstract review through discussion of anonymised examples and shared criteria.

  • Designing Effective Conference Posters – A hands-on workshop to help early career researchers craft visually engaging posters (print and digital) that clearly communicate their research and invite meaningful conversation.

  • Presenting top tips – Presenting your research shouldn’t be stressful, it should be impactful. This practical two-hour workshop will help you boost confidence, sharpen delivery, and communicate your work clearly and memorably.
  • Chairing Conference Sessions – Covering the core responsibilities of session chairs, from timekeeping to promoting inclusive discussions, and working through real-life scenarios to build confidence in the role.

  • Abstract writing – A practical, interactive webinar designed to help postgraduate and early-career researchers write clear, compelling abstracts that stand out. You’ll leave with greater clarity, confidence, and the tools to craft strong submissions for conferences, journals, and beyond.

Whether you are preparing to present, review, or facilitate sessions, this series offers practical guidance and peer support to help you navigate and contribute to ½¿É«µ¼º½’s conference and events with clarity and confidence. All are welcome.
