Dr Ania Atkinson is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in Education Studies at Nottingham Trent University and is also the lead for the SEND Special Interest Group. Ania has over 20 years’ experience across teaching, teacher education, and lecturing in education and inclusion. Her professional background includes working in secondary schools as an English specialist, Head of Inclusive Education, and SENCo. She has also led and developed initial teacher training in SEND and EAL for a large school-centred initial teacher training organisation. Ania’s research specialises in inclusion, neurodivergence, and autism in education. She believes in research that is meaningful, useful, and has ability to improve the lives of children and young people.
