Balqis Mohammed, Ms

Post Graduate Researcher/ PhD candidate at Manchester Metropolitan University

Balqis Mohammed is a postgraduate researcher at Manchester Metropolitan University, and her research interests lie in the fields of decolonial studies and social justice in education. Her PhD research investigates history teachers’ perspectives on the usefulness of creating a distinction between diversifying and decolonising. Balqis has recently coauthored a chapter with Dr Anna Olsson Rost and Professor Karen Pashby for The ½¿É«µ¼º½ Guide to Decolonising the Curriculum. She worked alongside Miles Smith on the ½¿É«µ¼º½ special issue blog series following the Far away from the ivory tower project to expand on the significance of Lifelong Learning. As the first in her family to obtain a degree, Balqis is particularly interested in the transformative impact of lifelong learning.
