Colin Smith is now retired from his role as part-time tutor at the Office of Lifelong Learning, University of Edinburgh. Colin previously taught biology in secondary schools before working as a research associate for the S-TEAM Project for the University of Strathclyde. He was seconded to both the University of Edinburgh and the University of Stirling as a teacher-researcher with a focus on bringing research to practice. He has a long established interest in ‘understanding’ and in conceptual metaphor theory as is evidenced by his previous publications in this area.
