Lucy Sors is a Senior Lecturer in initial teacher education (ITE) at York St John University and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Lucy is Inclusion Lead in ITE and teaches across ITE programmes specialising in SEND and inclusion, outdoor learning and languages. Lucy is a qualified teacher and led a career as SENDCO school leader and teacher before moving into HE. Prior to teaching, Lucy worked for organisations supporting children, young people and adults with a range of complex support needs. She is part of the York St John University steering group for the Inclusive Education Framework developed as a collaborative inter-university project led by Hull University. Her research stems from a background in anthropology and primary education with emphasis on inclusion, equality and social justice. She advocates participatory research that includes multiple ‘voices’ to inform creative and inclusive pedagogies in education.
