Rebekah Ackroyd, Dr

Senior Lecturer in Education at University of Cumbria

Rebekah Ackroyd is a convenor of the Early Career Researcher Network.

Rebekah is a senior lecturer in education at the University of Cumbria working on postgraduate provision. Her PhD examined how teachers of Religious Education (RE) construct and promote mutual respect and tolerance. A more recent project examined children and their families ideas on decision making about land use, nature and belonging.

Previously, she has taught RE in secondary schools in England, as well as being a learning assistant in a democratic German free school (6-18 yrs), and a teaching assistant. She is interested in diverse approaches to education, home schooling (especially the work of Charlotte Mason), values education, conflict and peace studies, and promoting a love of learning and play. As an ECR, Rebekah is keen on providing collaborative opportunities for learning and development.
