Sophie King has more than 20 years of experience in youth services and is committed to helping young people reach their full potential. She began her career as an Outdoor Education, IT and Multi Activity Instructor at 3D Education and Adventure on the Isle of Wight. After travelling across South America, Australasia and Asia, Sophie returned with a broader perspective on learning and personal development. She attended Chichester University to work towards a teaching qualification, and during her school placement gained valuable insight into classroom education, ultimately deciding that her skills were better suited to youth work. Sophie went on to work as a personal adviser and participation officer with the Youth Offending Team and Connexions in Portsmouth and Hampshire, supporting young people navigating complex social and personal circumstances. She later led the citywide Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme for Portsmouth City Council and now leads the Portsmouth team at Motiv8. Sophie believes youth work skills and approaches can help create more engaging, inclusive and empowering environments where all young people can thrive.
